School for International Training (SIT), South Africa, with Study Abroad Journal  during the 1997 Arts and Social Change program at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Today, SIT has several engaging programs in South Africa, including South Africa: Community Health and Social Policy. During this program, students examine community-based health concerns from a South African point of view, and gain understanding of the South African state, the media, and nongovernmental organizations.

The School for International Training (SIT) study abroad program South Africa: Multiculturalism and Human Rights offers students an opportunity to "Explore issues of multiculturalism, ethnicity, and identity in the context of South Africa, from historical and contemporary perspectives."

This photo was taken during the 1997 SIT semester abroad program Cape Town previously named "South Africa: Arts and Social Change," American students visited various townships including SOWETO (South West Township) southwest of Johannesburg. Learn more about this outstanding programs.
